Edit: I apologize for my horrible grammar and lack of writing skills. But this is how I felt at the time. Thanks for understanding!
It has been a long time since I have kept with current events. But just tonight my parents invited me to watch a documentary with them since they are always watching some sort of film every night. Tonight we watched a documentary film called ‘The Devil came on Horseback’. Having been introduced to what has been happening in Africa, particularly in Darfur, I felt remorseful that over the last few years, I have been swept into this lifestyle where all I have been doing day and night was to become a better animator.
Coming to this realization has left me with guilt, which many of us who strive to be excellent animators are left forgetting about the reality of our world. I hope that this isn’t true for many Animators, but one thing for sure is I know I am guilty.
I hoped that one day; the animation industry and large animation studios will be targeting greater causes and be more involved with world events to open our eyes than just love stories and the best way to make a large amount of profit. At least seeing ‘Persepolis’ recently, I am glad that some animation studios have been making an effort.
This is a good post and may be one that needs to be followed up to see what the results are
